Locating Affordable Housing

Rental assistance subsidies may be available in your community. Assistance in the form of Section 8 certificates and vouchers pay a portion of a monthly rent. An individual pays up to 30 percent of their adjusted income for rent with Section 8.

For areas of Indiana that are not served by housing authorities, contact the Indiana State Department of Health help line at 800-433-0746 or 866-275-1274 TTY / TDD, the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services, or the Area Agency on Aging.

Other affordable rental housing opportunities may also exist in your community through non-profit housing organizations.

For information call the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority at 800-872-0371 and request information on nonprofit housing organizations that offer affordable rental opportunities.
